Lifestyle

Live your yoga. Discover the Yamas and the Niyamas..

Yoga’s ethical and moral codes, often outshined by asana, may be the missing keys to true yogic strength, power, and transformation, on and off the mat.  Learn more about this lifestyle in our meditation classes.

Meditation

Meditation is a practice where an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or for the mind to simply acknowledge its content without becoming identified with that content, or as an end in itself.

The term meditation refers to a broad variety of practices that includes techniques designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy or life force (qi, ki, prana, etc.) and develop compassion, love, patience, generosity and forgiveness. A particularly ambitious form of meditation aims at effortlessly sustained single-pointed concentration meant to enable its practitioner to enjoy an indestructible sense of well-being while engaging in any life activity.

Philosophy

The philosophy of yoga is grounded in the Sutras, Yamas and Niyamas.  The Sutras are an ancient script which have been translated by yogi masters.  The Yamas and Niyamas are ethical guidelines or how to be and not be, both with yourself and others.  All classes at Willow Tree Yoga and Meditation will incorporate these philosophies into all classes while we explore our path.

Maria

Maria has over 15 years of experience practicing yoga. After making the life transforming decision to take the 200 hour Teacher Training program offered at Sharing Yoga in Concord, NH she knew it was her calling to bring yoga to others.

The residents of the town of New Ipswich have been very welcoming and excited to have a local yoga studio, and in addition to classes, there are a variety of workshops. Be on the lookout for kids class series and gentle “off the mat” yoga for those who don’t feel comfortable getting down onto the floor. Fun events like “Glow Yoga” as well as a variety or workshops will be offered!

Maria offers a variety of classes ranging from gentle and restorative to a Vinyasa Flow class which can be more challenging. In all of her classes, she interjects warmth, a sense of humor and a genuine acceptance for all human beings. (And animals)

She can’t wait to get to know all of you in this wonderful community space!

Maria offers private classes for people who may not be ready for a group environment.  The privacy of a one on one session will allow you to feel more comfortable to explore your own yoga journey.  Open your mind to the possibility that you can become more centered, focused, happy and self accepting through this personal application.  Each class is custom tailored to your individual wants and needs.
